Liberal Rapture

Another in a long series of posts in which I find myself so glad to be relieved of "Democratic Party" status.

Oh my. A bunch of Obama whores named Accountable America is about to start a real s**tstorm. This group sent out a warning letter that, in essence, says that donors to the GOP will be dragged through the mud. The warning letter is intended as a first step, alerting donors who might be considering giving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers, including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups digging through their lives.

Nice. Give to the NRA - get a subpoena!

Trashing right wing donors on a personal level is another sign that the "liberals" now in control of the once great Democratic Party are contemptuous of the individual. Put it in the "caucus packing" and bittergate category. The fundamental thesis being "We know better than you. Behave, or you will pay!" Please read this for another example. A male DNC lawyer screamed at a female lawyer defending a gay man who was fired by the DNC. Saying she must not contradict him and "know her place!" The infection is spreading.

Before everyone gets in a bunch and screams "They did it first!" let me state: I loathed the Swift Boat ads. But they attacked Kerry, who chose to run for President. They did not threaten Democratic donors with a closet de-skeleton- ation. Kerry was an idiot to wait 3 weeks to respond. (Mimicking his Massachusetts predecessor Dukakis and the Willie Horton debacle.) Kerry knew what was coming and went windsurfing.

By threatening big donors Accountable America takes the once decent Left to a new low level. Hardly a surprise. The fuel of the Obama campaign is not vision, or issues, or experience. It is personality. Read: cult. The response to anything that makes BHO look bad is analogous to what the scientologists do when anyone questions their "religion." His entire campaign is to play "good cop" while, literally millions, on blogs, in the media, and elsewhere, take on the roll of "bad, nasty, cop." The world Rove and Atwater created, Obama's pods are perfecting.

This group is not taking money so they can dig into McCain's past. They intend to attack donors. The George Soros seizure of the DNC should be brought up here. It is perfectly within reason to ask both Obama and McCain who their big donors are. It is within reason to sniff out who is paying for Move on. The public should know that Big Oil has given more to Obama than McCain and that Paris Hilton's mother gave cash to McCain.

It is quite another thing to threaten public embarrassment by dumpster diving for info on their lives. Will we find out that MRS. BIG GOP DONOR is a pill popper? Or that MR. BIG GOP DONOR wears panties under his suit? I condemn this no matter who does it. The "left" is going to one up the scoundrels on the right. They intend to cede the one tiny piece of moral turf they can still claim. And for what? for who? A junior Senator with a resume I could write on my palm with a sharpie.

This is about the personality cult surrounding Obama. Obama is poisonous. He has - with some skill, I admit - created a playing field in which otherwise sane people lose their reason.

There is nothing I love more than a knock down drag out pugilistic campaign. It is as American as Broadway and hamburgers. Obama's past can stand up to scrutiny or it cannot. McCain's past can stand up to scrutiny or it cannot. Ditto for experience and leadership skills, and moral character, and issues.

I wish digging up dirt on donors was the end of the line. It is not. It is the first stop on the re-education express train to hell. Somewhere Mao and Che are clinking beer bottles in a toast to victory.

Yes, yes we can destroy ourselves.

Before the above question is dismissed out of hand read the linked article. It lays the groundwork for some deep journalism that clearly needs to be done. Obama's rise is largely unexplained - or explained away. If any other candidate of either party had ongoing connections with someone like Ayres the media would have vetted that relationship. In this case it has not.

It is highly unlikely that a 30-something second year lawyer would have been plucked from relative obscurity out of a left wing law firm to head up something as visible and important in Chicago as the Annenberg Challenge by Bill Ayers if Ayers had not already known Obama.

Ayers, of course, had long held what the left once knew as "maoist" politics - a view of the world that was opposed to Russian style bureaucratic communism from above, instead supporting sending revolutionary cadre to "swim among the masses like fish in the sea" or attempting to establish guerilla foco as romantically theorized by Regis Debray and carried out with disastrous results by Che Guevara.

During the debate, Obama seems to have told outright lies about his relationship to Ayres.

As it turns out, there are other ex-SDS types around the Obama campaign as well, including Marilyn Katz, a public relations professional, who was head of security for the SDS during the disaster in the streets of Chicago in 1968. She is close (politically) to Carl Davidson, a former president of SDS, who heads up a group called Progressives for Obama. Davidson and Katz, it appears, were key organizers of the anti-war demonstration where Obama made public his opposition to the Iraq war that has been so critical to his successful presidential campaign.
