More Harassment Laws

Harassment of any kind is strictly forbidden. There are harassment laws in place that define what will characterize an individual to be in violation of this type of criminal act. One of the aspects of the harassment laws that most people are familiar with is that it is against harassment law to sexually assault anyone. What some people fail to realize is that a violation of the sexual harassment laws is not just applying physical force to an individual. This is one of the more severe violations of sexual harassment law, but it not the only instance in which this type of behavior can be considered unlawful. Although bullying may be a frequent occurrence that happens on the playgrounds of a school yard, this is also a form of harassment. It is usually practiced that the matter be dealt with internally if this is possible, but the act may very well constitute as an act that is in strict violation of the harassment laws. A violation of the harassment laws may take shape in the form of stalking. There are times when the stalking may serve as a passive mode of harassment, then there are other times when the stalking may take a more aggressive form. Either way, this serves as a violation of the harassment laws. In the current day, a newer form of harassment that has taken shape is Internet harassment. This type of violation of the harassment laws is usually played out in a way that constitutes in phone harassment. The accusation will usually be that the person is issuing way too many online correspondences, or that the accused individual is in violation of the harassment laws because he or she has issued threatening messages.

If brought to a court of law, harassment will be viewed as a criminal offense. Depending on which of the harassment laws were violated, the charges may be regarded as either a misdemeanor or a felony. The court of law will sentence the person accordingly, if he or she is convicted. The average person can spend several years in prison for violating the harassment laws, or even more, depending on the severity of the criminal harassment act. The victim may also be able to to sue for a financial verdict against the accused, as well.
