There are a number of child safety laws that have been established in order to make sure that those who are in the care of children are going to be using their best efforts in order to ensure that they are in compliance with putting child safety first. The child safety laws are typically formulated on a state level in order to most accurately and most effectively establish the child safety laws that speak to the current issues that are being presented in that particular region. One of the child safety laws that most people are knowledgeable of are the car seat laws. In the state legislation of the child seat laws, one of the components that are addressed is the age for which children are to be placed in a car seat. The state car seat laws also set guidelines for what is the weight by which children are to be placed in a car seat. There are additional state stipulations within the car seat laws that require other modes of safety for car seats, in terms of placement, and how to properly restrain the child.
Since the car seat laws are also a state regulated child safety law, it is often held as an emphasized enforcement by the state, whenever the state sees fit. This is not to say that the car seat laws are sometimes not enforced, but this is to say that this is a law where there will be heightened attention drawn towards it when there is a need. For instance, if there appears to be a number of cases to ensue in which the car seat laws were abandoned in the state, the approach to reinforce the law may be to run local commercials, and make traffic sign postings that remind drivers of the car seat laws.
There are also other child safety laws that have been established that do not involve the physical presence of a child directly, but that were established in order to prevent harm to children. One of the child safety laws that fits this criteria is the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. This is one of the child safety laws that deals with protecting children against sex offenders. This is also one of the child safety laws that deals with the sex offender registry. This provision has come to offer categories of sex offenders with Tier 3 being the most severe offenders, and Tier 1 being the least. This act established a term limit for which a sex offender is to be listed within the sex offender registry, according to the tier that he or she belongs to. Tier 1 is to remain registered for 15 years, Tier to is to remain in the registry for 25 years, and Tier 3 sex offenders are to be registered for life.
