Calling it as I see it.
Someone accused this site of having "blind hatred" of Obama today. Bullshit. Let's play offense on this crap right now. I don't hate Obama the man. I feel bad for him. His personal damage and visionless narcissism is being worked out on a grand stage. This a story as old as politics. So what. Read Roman history. Read Shakespeare.
Obama the man has come. Obama the man will go. Just like everyone else. Sadly, there is nothing to suggest that this man's flaws have been - or can be - forged into greatness. If he wins, I hope I am wrong. So far my assessment stands.
I do hate what Obama represents: the end of meritocracy in the Democratic party. The end of the Democratic Party in any recognizable form. The death of the 4th estate. The ascension of the cult of celebrity.
I hate the sick sexism that his campaign used and exposed. I hate the degradation of blue collar workers.
I hate that the cornucopia of cocktail party mavens, crooks, cynics, media whores, idiots and hacks propping up this candidate represents a culture on the wane. Look closer.
I consider the Obama phenomenon to be a poison. Harsh, yes. But I call it like I see it. I will exercise my right of free speech while I retain it. Both major candidates have put my right to privacy in the docket.
This hatred is not blind. Obama has done this blogger a service - he ripped the blinders off.
Thanks, Barry.
Can we recover? Of course. Will we? I do not know.
