"just a politician"
I gots a church commitment tonight (do I mention church too much? It is an important part of my life - right after Green Acres reruns and USC Football....) so I am not going to write much - but I sense I may have to kick the next person who says "ah come on, of course Obama flip flopped. He says what he has to. He's just a politician."
I say to this: BULLSHIT.
1. FISA and Campaign Finance are not minor issues. His willingness to flip on these two major issues is not a minor event. It goes to the core of who he is. VALUE LESS.
2. The entire Raison d'être of the Obama Campaign for the outset was that he WAS NOT just another politician. He was someone above it all. To see the same people who carried Obama into Jerusalem on their shoulders in the Spring, now saying all his flipping is okay because he's "just a politician" - with no irony and no memory of their just past insistence that he was NOT just a politician - is CREEPY. Obama causes certain types of people to lose their minds. And to paraphrase Hitchens on religion:
Obama poisons everything.
