Clinton fought hard - but given what we know about Obama - she also fought way to nicely.
The super delegates will probably crown Obama soon enough. Clinton made some serious errors that I am sure I'll write more about later. I'll list a few at random here:
1. Once it was clear the media was in the tank for Obama - after Iowa - an aggressive "counter the bias" campaign should have been mounted. By not countering the pro Bush bias in the media, Gore made the same mistake in 2000
2. She ceded the caucuses to Obama - why?
3. She should have knee capped Obama with Wright after Iowa. I will never, ever understand how the Clintons - widely regarded as being brutal campaigners - let the Wright tapes pass by. It must be that they are NOT brutal campaigners. I would have forced Obama to answer for Wright well before Super Tuesday and taken Obama out then.
4. Ayres. Ayres. Ayers. Again the Clinton camp let this go. It is a story yet to be told - but will be in the Fall.
This bullshit that people are "sick" of negative campaigns is just that - B.S. Obama ran a negative campaign through out - on MSNBC and the Huffington Post, and other surrogates- see number 1.
5. Some one needed to take Donna Brazille and Howard Dean in a room and "set them straight" about Florida and Michigan about 3 months ago.
More on what they did wrong later. But it all boils down to - Clinton fought hard - but given what we know about Obama - she also fought way t0o nicely.
It will be fun to watch what GOP 527's do to Obama in the fall - if only to see how Clinton could have won. It's a damn tough business - Obama surrogates played with brutal, clinical efficiency. Clinton's team never really hit back.
